Australian Paralympic Powerlifting Grand Prix Final Round & Invitational Battle Royale

On Saturday the 15th of June, Strength Sports Gym will host the final round of the Paralympic Powerlifting Grand Prix Series. The event will see up to 15 Paralympic Powerlifters from development level to elite compete for the title of Australia’s best Paralympic Powerlifter!

In conjunction with the Grand Prix an invitational event has been set up with lifters from Strength Sports Gym, Iron Underground and Gold Coast Barbell set to take on 6 of the para’s best in a pure power battle royale!!!

Some of the para lifters to watch on the day will be Abebe Fekadu currently ranked Australia’s best para lifter having represented Australia in London 2012, Delhi 2010 and Beijing 2008 with a pb bench of 163kg at 56kg! Abebe will be joined by Leigh Skinner and Cam Whittington who both competed in Delhi and Dave Williams who has competed at the World Champs. The above four are inside 12 months selection for the Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 with only three spots available it’s going to get heavy!!!

Grand Prix starts at 11am (9am weigh-in)

Invitational Battle Royale starts at 1pm (all invited athletes will be lifting with legs raised on the para bench under IPC rules).
